positive screening for ds

My doctors office called me yesterday and told me that my blood screen for down syndrome came back positive and wants to schedule me for a level II ultrasound. She told me that just because the screening came back positive doesn't mean that my baby has D's. Has anyone been through this?

Although my blood work was fine, during a routine 2nd trimester ultrasound the tech spotted a "bright spot" on my daughters heart..which they say shows lack of development which is one of 12 markers for ds..we went for a level 2 ultrasound and the Dr said everything was perfectly fine..don't stress over it please please please...I was an absolute wreck and everything turned out fine..remember between the markers baby could possibly carry and the ones we carry we're bound to test positive on at least one

My screen came back 99% positive extra chromosome. I opted for amnio ( doesn't hurt btw) and that came back as negative. Not sure which text to believe so I decided I will not stress over it and when he's born we can test then.

I have not personally gone through this, but my best friends daughter had down syndrome.  I watch her for long weekends every so often.  It was definitely hard at first, but now Olivia goes to regular school has lots of friends, is learning to read and write and is honestly the sweetest little girl I have ever met.  I adore my time with her! Even so When my husband and I we're going in for our test it was definitely nervous.  But I just wanted to encourage you that even if your child does have down syndrome God gives the strength and the support you will need.  I believe He has a very specially place in His heart for ppl with special needs. I will be praying for you and your little one :-)
