I'm 22 weeks and still nursing my 18 month old, he seems to do it more for comfort rather then milk at this point. It has had its ups and downs but we are still plugging away. The only trouble I've really had is nipple soreness and a toothy toddler, its a bit more challenging. You can do it if you and your babe both want it! I hope to tandem nurse once my youngest arrives, I've read it helps the older sibling accept the younger one because they still have special time with mom too.

I had never heard of the phrase "tandem nursing" before. Read up on it and makes me less anxious about continuing to breastfeed my 9 month old. Didn't know it was safe and how much emotion is behind a baby nursing! Thanks ladies!

My daughter self weaned at 22 months and I was in my second trimester. I would have kept going and was open to tandem nursing, but she stopped on her own. :) My midwife said nursing throughout my pregnancy was perfectly fine.

I stopped two weeks before I found out I was pregnant again!  I was so sad!  I would have tried to do it longer. My baby girl is 7 1/2 months now and I'm 16 1/2 weeks pregnant! Congrats mommas!

We just recently stopped. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and my little one will be one on Saturday. Nursing while pregnant DOES NOT take away nutrients from either child. That's misinformation and sorry she was poorly directed.

My sister in law stopped breast feeding my nephew when she was 2 months pregnant, she was told that because she has another baby growing inside her then she needs to keep all the nutrients to the unborn baby

Aw sorry it was a difficult experience for you. I know I'm very emotional about breastfeeding my baby still. Thanks for the advice. Its good to know someone else was trying like me :)

I was but we weaned about 5 days ago. My daughter will be a year on the 21st and I'm 16 weeks pregnant. I would have kept going but my milk basically dried up. I even tried pumping but I only got one oz between the two sides and it was clear like early colostrum. Not all women can do it, I'm one who can't. My best advice is to stay hydrated, eat what you can and try for as long as you can. Don't feel guilty if you have to wean your older child. I cried a lot but I'm doing better now.
