So painful under my breast-- rib area

I have really bad pain under my breast, around the ribs area I can't sleep lately because of it, been up all night, it's soo painful. Finally got up from bed at 4 am and applying ice to it. I'm 38 weeks, almst 39 this Sunday, the pain is so bad, all I want to do is cry. Is this normal to feel rib pain late in my pregnancy? Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain? Plz help!

Thanks guys, I did mention briefly yesterday to the doc because it was sore but not too painful at the time, he just briefly said something about uterus growing. Both sides got sore & painful later at night. I been applying ice, helped little bit. My blood pressure was fine. So it's most like the baby it's pushing on that area. I wish I was done with this pregnancy. Thanks ladies :-)

I just went to the doctor this week because I am having the same pain. Its under my boob above my bump. My doctor called it something but mu muscle is separating down the middle. It hurts like hell!! It doesn't stop hurting until the baby is born. Good luck!

Which side? This is a red flag for preeclampsia. Call the doctor, don't just suffer through it.

Its possible you could have a crack or fracture on a rib(s). I talked to my doctor about this just this week. Also the ligament supporting your ribs could be stretched causing pain.  Depending on how you carry this may happen.  A baby's kick can also cause damage. I fractured mine due to a bad cough from bronchitis over Christmas and its painful.  If that it takes about 6 weeks to heal. Mention to your doc but not much they can do.  Once baby drops hopefully you will have relief.

It's probably the way baby is sitting, if it's causing that much pain I'd call it in to your doctor, they may be able to talk you through sitting or laying a certain way to get baby to move and relieve that pain. Good luck!!
