In my area a registered midwife can do everything a doctor can (order tests, perform exams, write recommendations), but they're registered with the province...I don't know about midwives where you live. You should ask your midwife?

Your consultant should be able to write a letter/cert to your employer.mine did for me,im 29weeks with pelvic girdle pain so on bed rest from now onwards as i can barely walk now.. Im in ireland, not sure how things work in other countries.

Sign you off sick from...work? I imagine that would be up to your employer.
