When laying on ur back they should come out face down. My friend had her baby 6 weeks early face up and her pelvic bone crushed his nose it was almost completely flat and off to the right. Looked painful :-( he's fine tho.
Good question ive never thought about this!
Thanks ladies! I was just curious :)
Well, I delivered on my hands and knees and my baby was facing my spine so he came out face up. But I don't think that's what you're asking, since most women unfortunately are still forced to deliver on their backs.
Babies who are facing mom's abdomen at delivery are referred to as "sunny side up" and often cause mom to experience what's known as "back labor" as the big round hard part of the skull in the back tries to journey across the sacrum and the coccyx during labor. It is more painful and more difficult than delivering a baby that is facing the spine - but it is certainly possible, even med-free. And it's not all that uncommon, either.
I think they're supposed to be face up.
Some are born face up also known as sunny side up. I have heard it is really painful if they are face up.
Sorry I didn't really clarify! I mean as they are being born like in the delivery room!!
Until they start rolling on their own, then I wouldn't worry about it too much.
When they sleep, face up.
