If you are having a shower i would wait a bit. People Love to buy tiny little outfits!   I found i got sooo much 3-6 month clothes that alot of it never got worn at all because there was just that much of it.  I also found that my little one didnt really wear lot of "clothes" until she was about 3 months.  She was usually in sleepers around the house.  So much easier to change a million times!

Yep, I'm expecting to have a good size baby based on my height and husbands height, and how big my first son was when he was born. I went to the thrift and got a few nb onesies, which will fit perfectly out the womb for at least a couple weeks, and the rest 0-3 mos and 3-6mos for his first 4 mos.  I plan on shopping for more clothes once he's 3-4 mos. That way, I'm not over buying clothes that he will never get a chance to wear.

I'd get a couple newborn footed jammies, then a 0-3. If your baby is smaller, you can always pick up (or have someone else pick up) more newborn/preemie clothes.  My oldest son was in preemie for a couple months; didn't for into 0-3 until he was 8 months old. My second was in nb for a few weeks.

Mine was only in 0-3 until 1 month old, but even if they only wear 0-3 for a month, you still need a good amount of outfits.

It all depends on how big your baby is. My first was 9 lbs so she went straight to 0-3 months and stayed in that and 3 months for a little bit.
