Always check with your Dr, but if she doesn't sound worried you are probably ok. How far along are you? It's common to get sharp, stinging, pains right there. But they should be short and irregular; like less than 1min. It's the muscles stretching down there and it can hurt! But they should go away. Round ligament pain can be on either side, but the pain shoots left or right, instead of in one spot. I was having a muscle spasm and had to convince my Dr it was not round ligament. They believed me when they saw it on an ultrasound. He prescribed me something to calm the muscle. Anyway! Really you are probably ok, but don't hesitate to remind your Dr how often and how painful it is.

Totally normal, it's your pelvis shifting to get ready for birth. Also your uterus stretching as well, it can be very uncomfortable and painful.
