state disability

So I am freaking out... I am almost at the point where I will be taking maternity leave but since I am per diem I don't quality for any benefit only state disability... I live in the state of California and I really don't know how it works... I am depending on that to pay my rent until I go back to work... but someone told me it takes a long time for them to approve you and to send you a check... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Im in ca also and is on disability they should approve you but it doea take a lil to start getting the checks to start rolling thru , they will back pay you from the date u submitted your paper in.. did you apply online r thru papers ?  And usually your doctor take care of it .. but I did mine thru the mail and it took forever to send my card

I'm in ca as well....as far state disability my Dr took care of all that for me you gotta fill out some forms etc...it didn't take very long to collect payments... But any way consult your Dr and they will give you more info.

I would contact a disability attorney. Might speed things up a bit and you get some good advice just from a consultation.
