I started my induction off with cervadil (the pill they insert) it wasn't too bad it got me going into labor and got me dialated to 2 centimeters on 24 hours. Then they broke my water which got things moving quicker but not as quick as planned so they pit me on pitocin (which is horrible without the help of an epidural, I had 3 failed epidurals). Long story short 46 hours later from the first dose of cervadil my son was born. He had a week long stay in the nicu because he was born at 36 weeks and had water in his lungs and jaundice. All in all it was a success, don't be too scared by my story though I was a high risk pregnancy and had to have my son vaginally without pushing because of a heart condition. If I didn't have this condition they would have had me have a c-section.
I went to my appointment today and the nurse explained it to me and thought I share what she said. She says it depends what they will do according to where you are. If your cervix is not soft they will put some pills in your vaginal every three hours to help it get it "ripe" then they will put pitocin and then it's a waiting game like the ladies said above. They will break your water and wait for you to be dialated so you can push.
I'm currently being induced right now. 16 hours into it. Its rather painful. Epidural is definitely in my birth plan. Good luck!
Thank you both :)anyone else?
You go they give you pitocin and then it's a waiting game.. with my first my water broke and I went inv in.. I was not getting contractions so they went ahead and induced me with pitocin..
My first was born at 36 week's and no nicu stay, she went home with me. I was induced at 37 week's baby was born healthy and went home with me.
