Depends on where you're living. In Canada you get 1 year paid leave. Since I have 2 other kids i started mine at 32 weeks
I agree with everyone. Look at your work policies. FMLA is 12 weeks from the day you leave, maternity is only 6-8 weeks. At my job you can only use one or the other. And I must use my PTO or disability to get paid. I'm 29 weeks and I work as a nurse so I'm running non stop. My doctor asked me to try to switch to days from nights, luckily I could, and told me I could work until 37 weeks due to some complications. I know many nurses who worked up until they delivered. Its a tough decision and it gets tough to work towards the end, but make sure you look at everything.
I worked up till I was at the hospital with my last on but he came 2 weeks early and I was suppose to be at worj the day I had him and I was working 17 hoursdays at least I had to call the owner on my way to the hospital to cover me he wasn't happy but he under stood
Ive worked up to labor... gotta pay bills. :)
I worked until two days before he was born. He was born on a Sunday and I had weekends off but wasn't up to working that Friday. Good luck.
Wow in england I get 9 months paid off to spend with my baby girl I plan on going on leave at about 35 weeks
I just finished work today and im due in 18 days.
Im 29weeks now and plan on working until around 38weeks if all go as planned. And i know alot of women who worked up until their due date. Its a personal choice tho and keep in mind if ur work doesn't offer paid leave ur disability office only offered 6weeks paid and 12 all together.
Well if your company offers tdi pay then they will only pay 6 weeks for a natural birth and 8 for c- section...something to keep in mind also fmla states youre allowed up to 3 months however it starts from when you start your leave not when the baby is born so if you take leave now youll only have a few weeks with your baby before its time to return to work...after the three months is up and you have been cleared by your doctors to return to work your job has no legal obligation to hold your position
With my last pregnancy I took my mat leave 1 month before baby was due. I think I'll do the same with this pregnancy. I hope that helps.
