I know from experience when you have responsibilities such as heavy lifting you cant ask for help every single time you need it. It becomes a burden among others. What I did was told my work that I could no longer be lifting the things that were over 30lbs. It sorda bothered some of my co workers but its completely understandable so dont worry about what they think.
I worked up until 38 weeks with my first child (my blood pressure spiked and made my midwife nervous so I had to stay home after that) but until then I was working as a CNA in a nursing home, lifting and repositioning and rolling and dressing and changing completely dependent adults, almost always all by myself, who weighed anywhere from 90 lbs to 190 lbs. I was healthy enough to do it before I was pregnant, so there was no reason I couldn't do it while I was pregnant. Your doctor is not being unrealistic. Ask for help when you need it, but it sounds to me like you're healthy and doing great! Something to be proud of.
That's crazy for your doctor to say!! Can you get a new doctor? My heart goes out to you!
Wow yeah I wish I were you that be nice!!! Thank you all for the comments! ;-)
My Dr said 25lbs is the limit...and not to do it often!
I can't believe your doctor said that!! I've never known a doctor to say that to a pregnant women. It makes me mad and I'm not even you! Even if nothing is wrong something could definitely become wrong if u keep lifting and bending! Like preterm labor among other things! The least he could do is write u a doctors note with restrictions! I'm sorry ur going through this! I hope everything works out for you.
Well thank you all!!!! :-)
I do live in US and I asked about heavy things doctor must hate me or something because I told him it's a minimum of 50lb and a max of 80lb and he replied well you are healthy you can still do it... hahaha yeah not sure I might tell him I just can't do all of my job like I use to I don't know
Can they give you other task than lifting heavy objects? I don't think you should be lifting anything heavy.
Are you from the US? If yes, then more than likely any time you take off before the baby then means you have that much less time to take off after the baby is born. Legally in the US FMLA is only for 12 weeks TOTAL. Company MAY give more time but that is not required. Just be careful you are not cutting the time with your little one short.
Are you getting maternity leave with your job? Im sorry you feel like that I know I did too at that time..but I got laid off becaise my job was seasonal..I was happy about it..I know that now at 35 weeks I wouldn't be able to do what I was doing because even just walking around throughout the day or going shopping for a couple hours is torture. My friend worked up until 2 days she was due and then dr said to stay home due to contractions but ahe was sitting all day which is much better than standing and walking ALL day. Anyways keep pushing through..hoping your body doesnt get too worn out.
Depending on your type of job, and how your pregnancy is (high risk) you more than likely won't be told by your doctor not to stop. I was a waitress, working long hours and lifting trays of plates above my head and wasn't told to stop. I quit but only cause my son was stillborn last year so for my own piece of mind. Other mums in my job worked till 8 months and only stopped because of their choice.
Ok just wondering I'm a first time mom and it's getting horrible to work I know I'm almost 29 weeks but bending over and squatting picking up really heavy things is really getting to me I get so exhausted and tired I come home and feel as if I got hit by a bus.... :-(
I was never told that. I worked with my last two till I had them. As long as you have no problems the dr shouldn't tell you. Most women work as long as they can so they had the full 6 weeks off after the baby.
Section wednesday working till monday soo over it now 38 weeks. Doc never said but im self employed joys of it really. Xx
