Winter Coats?

Hi Everyone!!

So, the temperature is dropping and my belly is expanding.. it's just about time to ditch the puffy vest and move to a winter coat... BUT.. I don't fit into my super-warm winter coats anymore.

Has anyone found a seriously warm winter coat in a maternity store?  I tried Thyme and Motherhood but their coats are more like fashion jackets.. not warm enough for my 45 min. of walking a day in the cold Halifax winter season!

I'm even really open to other alternatives.. has anyone found success with multiple layers? Or has anyone found a fantastic wrap sweater that is stupendously toasty?

:D

Cheers & congrats to us all for getting this far (and looking fabulous!)

Thanks for the suggestions!

I tried Old Navy.. and the one here doesn't have a maternity section!  Booo...

but... I was out visiting a family friend tonight for dinner at their farm.. and mentioned the coat dilemma... one of the adult sons then got really excited and said that he just might have a solution (let me mention here that these are friends of my mothers.. I'd never met them before!).. he had bought a puffy North Face coat last year on an end-of-season sale and it didn't end up fitting him.  So, now I have a very warm and FREE winter coat!  YahOoO!  It is definitely big in the shoulders but should accomodate a big ol belly perfectly... :D

tobbeyj... I am so jealous of you getting the season off!!  hibernate for all of us! stock up on preserves and dry goods.. then don't leave the house until the spring flowers come up!  :D that zipper idea does sounds genius... I just might try to work that idea into a sweater... *crafty gears working away*

My friend took her regular jacket to the seamstress and had a zipper insert made for her regular jacket. I have no idea how to do this but she managed to find a material that looked nice and got a zipper for each side to just zip into the normal coat and managed to save money on buying a mat coat. I have not yet decided what I plan on doing in the way of winter coats, but as of now, hibernating sounds like the best plan for me. A 45 minute walkin the cold does not sound fun. I used to be a teacher in ON and always dreaded yard duty in the winter time - esp while preg but now that we have moved to QC, I am not permitted to work due to the whole H1N1 thing and preg teachers get payed to stay home - yah for us - which means that hibernating is totally an option :)  Good Luck!

I knew there were pros to living in Florida :) Though sometimes the heat is just sooo unbearable when you are pregnant that I wish for a little cold! The lowest we get here is around the freezing mark in December and January. Sorry I couldn't be of any help on the winter coat thing.
