Books......

Anyone reading a good pregnancy or baby book? Thinking of getting a baby book cuz it'll be 11 years since I had my son when I have Baby 2, so I may need some help. ;)

Look up some pregnancy books by Ina May Gaskins....she's an amazing natural-and-hospital birth advocate. she leans way more towards natural birthing, but she doesn't pooh-pooh the hospital births like many midwife-authors do.

As for baby books...I'd avoid the baby books to be perfectly honest! I did with my daughter and went purely on instinct and we had a few rough moments but I felt a lot more bonded to her after the first month because everything I had learned had come from HER and not a book. I did read some with my son (mostly about how to juggle a toddler and a newborn, lol) and I feel like I didn't focus as much on his needs and unique personality...so I won't make that mistake with #3...no baby books for me!

Toddler books, LORD yes...LOL.

Thanks ladies. The pregnancy part I seen to be handling well its the once I have baby home part I'm a bit shakey on. Yes a lot of it is instinct, and I already raised a 10yr old just fine but its been awhile since I've taken care of an infant. Thanks for your input! I'll definitely look into those!

I'm reading PREGNANCY CHLDBIRTH, AND THE NEWBORN. It's pretty comprehensive....it's got some helpful checklists, etc. in there and doesn't seem to be too biased about some issues the way some of these books can be. Kind of dry reading, but it's been informative for someone like me who has no idea what they're doing. I also ordered THE BABY WHISPERER based on someone else's recommendation. Have not received that one yet.

I only got one, its called GREAT EXPECTATIONS your all in one resource for pregnancy and childbirth by sandy jones and marcie jones.  My mom bough it for me and it has everything from conception to the delivery room, it even includes a list of foods and medicines that are okay and to stay away from.  Oh and my favorite part is it has sections on breastfeeding and finding the right kind of baby equipment.  : ) This book has everything lol
