My sister has been using meth for all of her pregnancy and is due in April. Just like myself I tried helping her but I can't seem to do enough. What can I do to make her stop before she is due ? :(

That is so sad. I was a smoker before I got pregnant and I felt bad when I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks and was still smoking. I couldn't imagine doing any type of drugs during pregnancy.  I hope she gets help and the baby is healthy. I'm sorry your stuck trying to clean her mess. But she does have to want to quit and I see what meth does to a grown person I couldn't even think about what it's doing to that sweet helpless baby. I'm sad for her! Wish you and your sister the best, don't stress your self to much it's not safe for you or the baby.

I know you want to help her being your sister in all. Don't put that kind of stress in your hands, meth is a serious drug and everyone that I've known to do that drug has lost themselves in it. They become manipulative, saying they want help then you help... They just keep taking and taking. They need professional help! That drug is no joke! Don't stress yourself out over it. If she hasn't stopped yet being so far a long in pregnancy, she might not. There's always hope but sometimes love can't fix people hon. Take care of yourself and your beautiful baby. She will hopefully get the help she needs. Goodluck.

You can contact cps also the hospital will test baby's feces if they suspect anything so if they do it will show up and they will contact cps.  The baby will show withdrawal symptoms once its born so they will know and odds are they will take the baby.  Sorry.  I feel for your niece/nephew

I myself am a recovering heroin addict. I got clean ten months ago. . And got pregnant two months after getting clean.  She won't get clean until she is ready.  I'm in a group therapy class every week with addicts who are pregnant or have children.  Most of them have used while pregnant. . Cps has taken away their kids . Some states now find it as an assault against the fetus so now the mothers are being arrested. I myself don't even understand how someone could hurt an innocent unborn child by using.  Or any thing.  And I'm an addict. It's a disease and it's hard to understand why someone would do this.  Maybe they screwed up once. . Thinking they would try to stop but after messing up they figured it's too late and they already messed up so they keep doing what they are doing.  I don't know.  I'm sorry. .I know it's frustrating.  All you can do is support her but only in her recovery. . Tell her how much you love her. . Every day.  And pray.

I know a girl who slammed it early in her pregnancy she apparently stopped and has her baby with her now. Her baby was born with his intestines not connected, he had to have surgery! They still gave her the kid. It pisses me off. That's horrible. Unfortunately with meth, the person needsbto want to seek recovery in order to fight their disease.

Meth is a horrible drug. My child's father does it. He is sober right now only because he is incarcerated. Fortunately for me I never tried it so my child was never exposed to it and I refuse to let his father's horrible habit influence him

Definitely get her some medical help, drug counseling, or rehab if you can. If the doctors catch any abnormal symptoms in the newborn that are caused by methamphetamine, it is required by law for them to report her. There are only so many distractions that a person can make for someone until they fall back into their addiction. Try to seek help and get her cleaned up before the baby is due.

I know of a mom she's on her 6th child right now and don't understand  her. She's I guess been that party/gang related mom and with 2-3 of her kids she was on meth. She was around 14-19 yr old when she had them. But it's a miracle they  came out okay. Those kids are now  one 15 and the other 10ish. But when when I heard she was pregnant again and she had and party around  her 1st  trimester and she was drinking hard liquor  I just don't know what to say.she my husbands excoworkers gf.i do know the first 3 of her kids are her guardianship of the grandma. But the 2 smaller ones and the ones she pregnant  with  she has. She mentioned once to me when I met her how she has just began getting clean when she got pregnant with her 4th. But seriously....that's irresponsible.

They will drug test her when she delivers. If she is positive, they will test baby. If baby is positive, CPS will be involved. Has she tested positive in her prenatal lab work? Then they will automatically test baby at delivery.
Is she aware she may not get to have custody of her baby?

but also don't stress , as it will effect YOUR baby . i know its hard though. good luck momma and congrats.
