my labour story

After carrying my first son for 42weeks and then having an imduction, my second son surprised all of us and arrived 38+1. On monday i had a drs appointment and was told that i had NO progress. He wasnt even engaged. Thursday 26 march my water broke at 4 am. Holy moly, was that a lot of water. We arrived at hospital at 6.30 and his head was still not engaged and not dilated. Started pitocin IV at 9. I wanted an epidural but could not get one as they are only given after 3cm. By 1pm i was dead. His head still not engaged so i was stillnot dilating. I called it quits as my contractions were 3mins long and 30 sec in between. Unbelievable pain. Only problem was my hospital had a high number of surgeries that day and as i was not an emergency they could probably only do me early evening for c section. My dr authorized an epidural so that i could stay sane till then.

half hour later after epidural, the nurse does an internal and he is engaged and i was 5cm!  Turns out i needed to stop fighting the contractions. I still took 3hrs to fully dilate and with 30 min of pushing our gorgeous son Liam was born at 5.50pm. Weighing in at 3.55kg and 51 cm long...notbad for 38 weeks.

i still rcommend the epidural after two vaginal births. I tore, 3 internal and 2 external stitches, but exactly where i tore withmy first much smaller baby.

the last 30 weeks on this forum has been great for the most part. It was always encouraging to hear other people having the same issues as me. Stay strong!
