I prefer my nurse practitioner. I see her for everything even when I'm not pregnant. My doc is ok but the NP takes more time and will do an ultra sound every time. My doc has to get through the appointments fast, he is in and out of the room in about ten minutes.
I know how you feel! I had that with my last doctor (changed doctors due to moving out of state) I actually had an appointment where I needed a test rain and she was like oh I I've to ask the doctor first if it's ok for me to send you for it....excuse me if you can't order a test why the heck am I seein you! I demanded the doctor to which he came in and said the nurse practitioner is just like a doctor...only difference is she didn't do her residency at a hospital for four years instead chose to work under a state licensed doctor! I got up and walked out!
It's to stressful to deal with a pregnancy and then deal with someone who can't even give you care because they are not licensed to deliver the baby or give medical treatment without someone supervising them!
I would definitely ask to see the doctor. Unless they tell you it's who ever is on call for their office to deliver the baby you at least have the right to meet anyone that may be the one to deliver your baby! Labor is already goin to be hard/stressful, you don't need the added stress of some stranger all up in your business down there delivering your baby and caring for you! (if that makes any sense!)
Well I see my Dr every visit however whatever Dr is on call will deliver my baby.
All the information is written in my file for anyone to go by. I think it just depends on the hospital. I know its frustrating but just try to go with the flow. Of course express how you feel and get your point across but don't stress.
I'm 32 weeks an seen my real Dr only twice ..7 years ago when i was preg with ny daughter I saw the Dr every time ..smh I don't get it ..the nurse practioner isn't gonna deliver my baby so why wouldn't I see the real Dr more especially now that I'm at the end ??!!!
