Anyone have this or crohns and how's it going with being pregnant? I was diagnosed about 10 months ago with this it's almost like crohns. I'm terrified that my pregnancy may cause me to bleed to death?? I need some advice on this please.

It's hard to explain but I'm actually bleeding more now that I'm pregnant than I did before I was pregnant. I have way more clots coming out and I'm extremely bloated all the time. Just has me a nervous wreck.

My mother has Crohn's, and throughout both of her pregnancies, she was symptom free.  Not a single flare up.  I have IBS, and my symptoms have gotten progressively worse since I got pregnant, including a few newer symptoms which are leading my doctor to think maybe I actually do have Crohn's, not just IBS.  But I'm a member of a IBD support Group, and nearly all of the women who have Crohn's or Colitis saw a decrease in symptoms throughout pregnancy and the entire time they breastfed.  Oh, how I wish I was like the masses.  :-)

I am an L&D nurse. Sometime your UC symptoms will flat up more in pregnancy and sometimes they will actually be better. Why do you think the pregnancy will make you bleed to death?  Your OB and GI specialist will follow you throughout pregnancy with blood counts. From my experience UC or Cronhs doesn't increase your risk of more bleeding. If your iron or counts are low they may do iron supplements or give your blood post delivery but I haven't seen this too often. Always remember to talk to your drs! Good luck and I hope your symptoms are managed for you
