I feel so terrible....

I know GBS is a bacteria that occurs in healthy adults and a lot of times is completely harmless, however, I feel so terrible knowing my child could be affected by it. I can't help but to punish myself, what if I didn't work in healthcare, what could I have done differently? I'm terrified that I will harm my son during delivery because of it. I know I'll be administered penicillin via intravenously four hours before but I still keep beating myself up. How can I ease the guilt?

Gbs is common and harmless for women, it's an infection from the gut which has nothing to do with your sexual members minus the fact the everything travels out that way. Make sure to get your meds during labor and all ends well. Don't beat a dead cause it's dead. (Pointless)

And you won't always have it. It tested positive with my first 3 and now I am negative this go around. My babies did not suffer any complications from GBS

Hey, I tested positive for it too. I kinda stressed about it at first but when I did more research, I felt a little better. It's not something that we have control over.. it's just those random chances that we are part of the group that has them. And as long as the hospital is aware of it, you shouldn't worry about it during labor and delivery. They will administer the proper antibiotics through the IV.

It's doesn't matter of you've been with 39 men . If your gonna have GBS your just gonna have it. It's something that just happens.  It can not be prevented.

I have GBS, and don't work in healrhcare, only been with 1 man my whole life, etc It seems to me it's just random bad luck that you get it, so don't blame yourself.

The antibiotics you get at birth should keep the baby safe from getting any infections, but i read that if the baby gets infected the big majority of illnesses that can come from it can be treated well. But that's only IF you miss out on getting the antibiotics at birth and IF the baby gets infected (that often doesn't even occur).

There's one kind of antibiotics they give aprox 4 hrs before birth or one kind 1hr before birth, if they feel that it won't be 4 hrs anymore. My gyn said to just come in as usual (contractions every 5-3 min, water break, ...), there will be plenty of time to administer the treatment.

Lol I have GBS also . It's not that serious.
Your hurting your baby more by stressing for no reason.  Just relax there's nothing Noone could have done differently to prevent it. Enjoy your pregnancy Goodluck honey.
