Good God...I'm in pain....

So I'm due 12/3 but because of my age (41) and some GD my Doc decided to induce me for tomorrow.  So today I went in and had Luminaria (i.e. Seaweed sticks) inserted into my cervix.  A VERY unpleasant procedure that I wasn't prepared for (the pain that is).  They then packed my vagina with gauze and sent me on my way.  I report to teh hospital tomorrow a.m.  BUT....I'm still so uncomfortable and feel like I'm having irregular contractions.  In between these contractions (which can be anywhere from 20minutes to an hour apart) I'm having almost constant cramping and pressure.  I feel like I need to have a BM at all times....sitting is uncomforttable to say the least.  When I lay down and finally get comfortable and maybe doze off...I begin to contract!  I've also been feeling nauseous on/off.  I have a call out to the MD office...but from what I gather I think I need to "tough it out" until morning.  I'm so scared....it's going to be SUCH a LONG NIGHT!  I don't even see how I'm going to get any sleep tonight!  I was prepared to be in pain tomorrow...with the induction and all....but today has kinda blown me away.....anyway...has anybody ever experienced anything like this during other pregnancies?  This is my first....and so I don't know what to expect....but so far....this *****! LOL  Any help/input is appreciated.  Good luck ladies...I know I'm going to need it.

Yeah, I've never heard of the seaweed either. I'm assuming you're already in the hospital and probably already had your baby by now, or you're getting close. I hope you got some relief and got a good night's sleep. Keep us posted!

I've only had one child and he was induced.. but that was in the hospital, checking in at 5am and using pitocin. It worked to an extent, but I ended up with a c-section anyway.

Praying for you to get some sleep and that the pain subsides. NEVER heard of using seaweed or gauze? odd.. but hope it helps and all goes well!!

Wow, that does sound EXTREMELY uncomfortable.  I wish I could help but I have never even heard of that!  When they induced me at 37 weeks with my DD (2006) it was all at the hospital and I stayed overnight in L&D... it was pitocin and cervadil though, no seaweed :o/  I think they may even have offered me an Ambien to help mt sleep (or was that with my son in 2001??  Or both? lol I don't remember.  Nor do I remember if I accepted or declined).  Well, you have a BIG day tomorrow and need your rest!  I say if it gets too unbearable and you just can NOT sleep that you don't call, just go in... at least that is what I'd do.  How do they expect you to have any energy left for delivery if you are not only without sleep but drained from being in pain all night?  Ugh.  Hoping and praying it gets better for you and everything goes well tomorrow!
