I hear ya on the back pain still.. my stomach is very messed up from the cut nerves too.
I did get to talk with my DR and midWife, I had a 3 hour visit there the last time I went in. Here is what I was told:
70-80% sucess rate to VBAC (anyone)
1% chance of uterine rupture
1 in 6 babys have the cord around their neck (my midwife doubts it will happen again)
Of the almost 2000 births my midwife has assisted, one 1 ended bad *which was a mom who smoked crack 3hrs before giving birth (RIP that poor baby)
My midwife also mentioned she has only seen 6 uturine ruptures and all were able to be saved (mother and baby)
Due to my past ability to dilate to 7cm, she said I should do just fine getting there again
Drugs- my choice, but VBACs in this state requires an iv line to be available if something happens. Last time I just had a local pain killer through the IV that worked wonders, contractions were a breeze. I will try to do the same this time.
What have you been told?? Hope all this helps, but then again every situation is different as is every Dr/midwife.
Well with me it was scheduled c-section because DS was breech and I didn't want to go through the external version (flipping the baby). I weighed the pros and cons and decided the c-section was best. He was exactly one week early and 7lbs 10oz 21 1/2 inches long.
Ha ha! Except for the reasoning behind the c-sections you and I are almost exactly alike! They messed up 5 times on my spinal and the 6th time got it right. I'm still having back problems and it's been two years!
Have you talked to the DR about the VBAC yet?
This is my second baby, 1st VBAC.
My son was 6days late, there was maconium in the fluid and when the decided to enduce I dialated to 7 when his heart rate started dropping. Within the next hour- I had oxygen, reduced pitocin, an epidural that missed 5x and an unplanned c-section. He was happy and healthy 6lbs 14oz.
I keep thinking this baby is going to be a bit bigger than my son, only cause my two step kids were moose's when born. We'll see at the next u/s the gender and size. 7lbs 4oz boy was my original thought, then the other night I had a dream of giving birth to a girl 6lbs 11oz. We'll see after Christmas is here!!
Any thoughts or suggestions on a VBAC?? So far I am healthy, no serious complications for baby- only mommy is exhausted and doing well, right on track!!
