Induction on christmas eve?!

So I've been reading a lot that doctors try to avoid inducing on holidays. Well I'm due the 17th and have been dialated forever and there has been no progress. My doctor is saying that they think I'll have to be induced and that if she doesn't come on her own they will be inducing me on Christmas Eve. I asked if they could possibly do it on my due date since I don't really want her born on the holiday and they said they aren't comfortable doing it until 41+. Normally I wouldn't care but I'm having surgery January 4th and need time to heal between delivery and surgery. Is my doctor right to say that they can't induce before 41weeks?

That is strange. That is just Dr's preference. Because legally, you can be induced after 39 weeks. I am 39 weeks today. Being induced Tuesday morning. My doctor has no problem with it at all. And I'm only at 1cm as of this past Wednesday. So idk, I think it just depends on your Dr. Mine has been in practice for over 20 yrs and is based out of The womens Hospital in Houston (one of the best in Texas.) He definitely know his stuff. I trust him completely.

39 weeks is normal to get induced but it honestly depends on the hospitals policies. Some allow it at 39 weeks others not until after your due date. I'm getting induced next wed and I'll be 39 weeks then.

I thought 41 weeks was the norm for induction. I am almost 38 weeks and my doctor said if I don't have him by the 41 weeks I will be induced.

It could be a hospital policy too, not always up to the doctor.

That's what I always thought was the norm, which is why I was surprised that said no to my due date...ugh I feel like my doctors don't listen.
