Decorating the baby's room

Has anyone started decorating their bub's room?

I am anxious to get started with it, but need to sell the bed and desk that are currently taking up all the room in there. (from hosting exchange students)

I have bought a pram already though, and I am picking up the cot this Saturday!

Anyone else made any progress? Don't forget to upload pics of your bub's room as you create it..

We've painted the room yellow and I've purchased a lot of stuff already. My theme is Alphabet Soup by Cocalo. I love the colors and the little animals!

I am so bad at making decisions. I like a lot of the animal themes for my baby boys room. But which one? Then I like the fire trucks too!!!  Ughhhh!!!! I don't know and I want to get his room done soon. Any good ideas for a cheap baby boy's room?  We still have to paint, clean the carpet, buy all the stuff and decorate the room. I feel like I'm running out of time and I don't want my little boy to come home to an unfinished room.

Well, we have a 3 bedroom house...my 11 year old son has one, one for us, and the 3rd is a very nicely decorated guest bedroom.  We are military, so all of our family live about 7-20 hours away...plus we have friends that frequent quite often....so a guest bedroom is a necessity.

What I am doing is...we have a crib with wheels...John Lennon designed crib set...and we have made it to where the guest bedroom can have the crib in there most of the time. and move it when guests come to stay.  My hubby re-designed the closet with shevles to have baskets for baby clothes, and will have 2 large baskets with handles for the cloth diapers and immediate us clothes.  That way they can be moved witht he crib as well!!

I never used a changing table with my son...the floor, beds, and coaches become a chaning table...and I just ended up piling eveything on the table.  So the room will have the queen size guest bed, a dresser for guests/ baby clothes, a closet for both, a recliner, and the crib...that's it....when guests are there...it will not look like a baby's room.

Thank you so much!! Hubby & I really loved the set too! We both love colors and I just couldn't take my eyes off that BLUE! It is soo beautiful! So I think for his room were going to try and match that blue and maybe border it with another blue. I'd like to bring some green into the room somewhere in the paint but I dont want it too look silly. So we've got some playing around to do! But I will definitely post progress pictures and post when its all finished! Hopefully it will be all done before December 1st! Thats our goal! (were moving Nov 1st so that gives us a solid month to get everything painted and set up)

I can't wait to move all his clothes around and put them in drawers! It sounds like so much fun and I know I'm going to enjoy every second!

Aww your vision of our little boy cooing is soo precious :)

I just ordered the babys bedding set for the crib. I wanted to see the sex before I decided on the theme. I went with a girly theme, its a set made by Tiddliwinks Cottage Chic from Target.com. I think its adorable. I just am debating on whether to paint the room a light shade of pink or something else....
if anyone wants to go on target, type in TIddliwinks Cottage CHic, look at the bedding set and let me know what  they think would be nice....i would greatly appreciate it!

I went to the website you gave for the nursery set.  That is really nice, especially since they say that babies, love geometrical shapes.  I can almost picture in my mind, your precious baby, lying awake in his crib, with his little fingers touching all the different shapes....most likely cooing and talking to them.  What a precious vision.

What color are you going to paint the room?

Make sure you post a picture of the nursery, so we can all see what you've come up with.  I am very anxious to see pictures of the nurseries all of you set up.  When I set up mine so many years ago, I can remember just sitting in the baby's room and taking in all the sites the baby would see and felt so relaxed.  I also folded and re-folded his clothes over and over again.  I even kept moving things from one drawer to the next, thinking the shirts should be here, his sock here...you get the idea.

I always came back to the top drawer for his socks and tee-shirts.  That seemed like the perfect place.

It sounds like all you ladies are getting into "the nesting mood."  Isn't it grand?  What fun and great memories.

All the best,
Heather

Thats cute! We also chose an "under the sea" type theme. We looked and looked and couldn't find anything we liked! Then we finally found one that was babyish but not too too boyish and the blue in it is sooo beautiful! Take a peek:

So now we know we are having a girl (well thats what the tech said, but of course I'm questioning it out of pure worrying).  I am in the process of looking at the bedding sets that we want.  We are almost positive that we want a white crib, regardless of color my parents are paying for it.  But once we can find a sheet set we like, then we will paint the room based on those colors.  The room we are using as a nursery has our guest room stuff in it for now, since my friend is living with us for a few months, but that stuff will be easy to get out, only costing a few trips from the room to the garage.  Hopefully we can get something picked out by next month and begin!

I'm working on clearing out my office to move Levi in there, so we actually have to work on TWO rooms! We have a new bedroom set for the baby that we're picking up this weekend, and we're not even ready for it yet! LOL
I can't figure out where I'm going to move all the stuff from my office. We already moved my desk/computer, but I have shelves and stuff in there, too. I guess we'll just have to leave them and let Levi use them for toys.

I finally cleared out (most of the things) from the spare room, and have assembled the cot in there!

Can't wait to get started painting. I've decided on lilac for the walls!

There are pics of my new cot in my profile if anyone wants a peek!

I really want to start ASAP but need to know what I'm having first!  I go back today and they will set up my 18 week scan for 2 weeks after today so hopefully we will find out soon.  Hubby and I have definitly been checking out the different cribs and all that, so we have an idea of what we want to do for a boy or a girl.  Can't wait!

I am dying to start but unfortunately like you have some obstacles in the way. My husband and I (mostly him since I get pregnant) have been trying to finish the basement to make it a family/tv room and until that is done we cannot move any of the couch of entertainment system that is in the room we will be using for the nursery. My husband wants to repaint the room as well luckily it is not very big but with him working 60+ hours a week I am trying hard to convince him that we don't need to repaint and instead focus on finishing the basement and having some good friends over to help move furniture.
With my first he totally surprised me - I was literally locked out of the room from start to finish and the only thing I knew about was the bedding because I picked it out. It was absolutely gorgeous though and worth the wait. I am hoping I can spend some time on the room before I get put back on bedrest so we'll have to wait and see.
