I AM ONE OF THE UNLUCKY LADIES

As crazy as it sounds, I posted a question just a week a go asking everyone if they were getting the h1n1 flu vaccination shot when it becomes available.  The reason that I posted is because we have a few places where it is available here in md, but the wait was upwards of 3-4 hours.  It was raining here for almost a week, just nasty weather, and the sites where the vaccines were being administered were upwards of an hour from my home.  so I decided to not get it just yet.  Well the next day, being Saturday evening, I started feeling so ill.

It is now Tuesday and yesterday after taking my temperature with it being 100.5, I called my doctor and they let me spend a few hours in Labor & Delivery.  I felt awful.  my highest temp was 101.8 by the time i got to L&D.  But the baby is fine.  and I was diagnosed with just the flu.  How Ironic.  this is the first year that I have gotten the vaccine, which was a month ago, and i get the actual flu.

Currently, I am taking the tamiflu medicine with tylenol for my aches.  My fever broke last night somewhere around 2AM.  I honestly feel totally different.  much much much better.  I still am in the bed but it cant compare to yesterday.  I felt like one of those military trucks ran me over and flattened me out.  but I am getting better now.  Thank goodness I had the sense to call and get the appropriate medical attention that I needed.

Has anyone else gotten the flu with either having the flu shot or not this year?

They say the second wave has started here in Toronto, Canada.  I'm officially avoiding public places and carry hand sanitizer wherever I go.  Scary.  I'm so sorry for those of you suffering illness of any sort, especially the flu/swine flu and I wish you a swift recovery.

That is very interesting to know.  I was just told that I indeed had the swine flu, and not the seasonal flu.

On my local news, Maryland, they said that 66% of people will become ill with the swine flu this season.  and a large percentage will get it this upcoming week.  I guess they know something that we dont.

I heard a report this morning from the CDC that said anyone who has experienced flu-like symptoms probably has/had the swine flu, as the seasonal flu hasn't appeared yet.

Hope everyone is okay and recovers quickly :)

I am so sorry to hear that you have the swine flu.  I have the regular flu, but they were concerned because of my shortness of breath.  that has subsided for the most part.  I feel miserable, and I can not imagine how you must feel.  I hope you get better soon.

and just an update on myself.  My fever broke around 2am, and it return approx 2pm today.  *****.  was wishing for the best.  I hope to get over this darn thing sooner than later.

I had the flu shot but no flu yet. HOWEVER I woke up with strep throat this morning. I have a call into my ob-gyn office seeing what I can take. They figure most likely they will end up placing me on an anti-biotic.   I am miserable. I just hope the rest of the family does not catch it.
