Caution--TMI regarding discharge

Since everyone is within weeks of me (I'm 12w2d), I thought I'd post here instead of the main forum. This may be TMI so stop reading now if you don't want to be grossed out.  I noticed this evening when I got home that I had a weird brownish discharge. It didn't look like dried blood.. just a very odd color. I went to the bathroom again about 30 minutes later and noticed there was a yellow like mucus and a tiny piece of something brown that had dropped into the toilet. Very small.. I only noticed because I was looking so closely. But I've never seen any discoloration during my pregnancy and am wondering if I should be concerned. I'll call my nurse in the morning but thought I'd ask on here to see if I could get some feedback from anyone with experience.  No pain. No cramping. Just color I didn't like seeing.

When I called my sister last night, she just started laughing. She has two kids and finds it hilarious that I freak out over everything right now. Totally unlike me, by the way. Of course she didn't plan either pregnancy and had zero issues along the way, so she doesn't understand the stress I've put on myself this past year.

I called my nurse and she basically said to get use to it. HA! She was super nice, answered all of my crazy questions, and even offered for me to come in for an u/s if it would put my mind at ease.  Then she she said no sex or exercise for a week just to be safe. Ummmm, no worries there. HA!

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I think I'm all better now.

It's is just prob bits of the mucus plug... Nothing to worry about because the mucus plug is constantly reforming to prevent infection... If you have bleeding and cramping go see a dr asap

Oh and at this point in pregnancy there is a less than 1% chance of miscarriage! :) so the odds are certainly in your favor!

I wish I knew!  Anytime the post says TMi I always read (yeah I wanted to be a medical dr so icky stuff doesn't gross me out at all). It sounds like there isn't that much of it so I wouldn't worry too much. Maybe it's from your uterus stretching?  I've heard around the end of the first trimeter that can happen and cause exactly what you are describing.

Hang in there I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers your way!

You sound like I am right now. Mine started after taking a prometrium vaginally and having an excessive brownish pink discharge from it. The next morning I went pee and when I wiped I had dark red blood and then it has been a brownish (varying from light brown to really dark brown) and stringy looking with little pieces. I wear panyliners and the discharge only is present when I wipe and it comes and goes in the amount varying from very light to mild (nothing heavy as of yet). I also have no pains with the discharge. The nurse at the doc's office said that the cyst that normally forms at the beginning of pregnancy that supplies the hormones at first may have ruptured causing delayed discharge or it could have been left over from the pap smear/pelvic exam I had last week. Have you had either recently? I dont know what to say except the doc's office said it is normal and unless I have bright red bleeding, heavy cramping or pain, or passing clots to just lay down and put my feet up and rest until it tapers off. It is working so far and my fingers are crossed and prayers said almost every five minutes.

I hope you find out what it is for piece of mind and your in our thoughts  ^_^
