Ok so this is not a question but I promised I would put up a list of the things dh and I would be buying this time...as we decided number 3 was our last baby we have nothing left baby related....not planning to find out the sex until the birth either....apologies if it's higgledy piggledy but I'm working off top of head, here goes:
Will be buying new: Cot/mattress
Pram/car seat/raincover
Other items some may be new, some 2nd hand: Baby monitor, baby hair brush, baby scissors (I preferred these to baby nail clippers in the beginning, but usually you get both in a set), nappy change bag, bottle bag (to keep milk warm), parasol (a must!), blankets 10/12 (including pram blankets), fitted cot sheets x3, cot mobile, 3 large cot blankets, 3 baby towels, bath thermometer (not bothering with baby bath myself, baby lays on one of my arms in the bath when little), top and tail bowl (for cleaning eyes one end and bottoms the other), cotton wool balls, nappies!! in abundance, baby wipes, nappy bags, change mat, (never had a baby change unit myself, didn't see the need) and baby will be in with us until 8-9 months so no expense on nursery decoration, moses basket/mattress and stand (will need moses basket fitted sheets also x3), gro bags (for when baby reaches appropriate weight to fit in them x3) i always get things in 3's for the wear one, wash one and one ready for use rule. Neutral clothing until after the birth when dh will be shopping for appropriate colours, I aim to keep the neutrals to a minimum as I know I most likely won't use again once I know the sex. 2 snow suits (dependent on time of year, I don't bother with a cosy toes for baby for this reason as the snowsuit and blankets keep them snug enough) 3 plain baby vests, 3 baby grows, 2 newborn hats, plenty of scratch mitts (can never have too many), baby socks (again plenty), baby booties (neutral colours) a few pairs of these to start. Muslins for all that baby sick (mine were particularly sicky) 12 was enough for me as they dry quite quickly. I always planned to breastfeed my children and made the mistake of not buying in bottles beforehand, so had the delight of feeding a screaming baby at 2am with my nipples bleeding and in agony for several hours before dh could go to supermarket and stock up on bottles, milk etc....this time I will be prepared!!!! 6 bottles and newborn teats, sterilizer, bottle/food warmer, bottle brush, soothers/pacifiers (as back up in case breast feeding doesn't go to plan), don't forget to have a tub of baby milk in too! bibs!!! plenty of bibs (I prefer the plastic backed bibs as the spit up milk doesn't soak through to clothes as much), breast pump (I had an electric one previously and milk storage bags) great if you have sore nipples and need a break from breast feeding, think the electric ones come with a special bottle for feeding too if you intend to carry on breastfeeding)..... once baby is born I intend to have 10/12 baby grows and vests in pinks or blues and 7/8 outifts (this allows for leaked nappies and any milk that makes a reappearance)......I think I've thought of most things to start with will add if I think of anything else!
