Oh ok thank you! Yeah my dr hasn't said anything about it at all but it might be because my babys still breech but maybe if it turns he'll mention it! Good luck to you I hope it works ;)
my understanding from my midwife is that you shouldn't really do it before 39wks because it can induce labour. so im also surprised when people mention having one so early. that being said it may not work for those having it done so early because your body and baby are just not ready yet. and just like any none medicated forms of induction they aren't 100% effective. my midwife didn't fo mine until i had significant natural cervical change...she started checking me at 38 wks but wait till i was 39wks and 3day's because at that point i had dilated to 2cm and im 90% effaced. what a sweep entails is your dr or midwife will insert a finger or more depending on how dilated you already are and then stretch it a bit more (not very enjoyable) at that point they will then attempt to sweep across the membrane that protects the baby. this if support irritate the uturus enough to cause cramping that hopefully turns into contractions and then active labour.
I'm a ftm and I know nothing about a membrane sweep..so its supposed to help get things moving?? Can you guys explain it to me a little. And I see some people do it at 37 and some people do it at 40 weeks... what makes you decide when to do it? I'm 37+4 now and my dr hasn't said anything about one yet.
I had my sweep done wednesday and nothing yet. So not sure if it actually works or not.
I'm 37+4 I had mine done at my 37 weekly appointment and still nothing yet....not sure if having a sweep works or not, just saying.
sadly no...some cramping earlier in the day but nothing the last few hours. having another one tomorrow so ill be checked again hopefully ive at least dila some more. was at 2cm 90% effaced. but ive also heard it can take up to 48 hrs to work.
How are you feeling? Any changes yet?
Good luck hope it went well x
