In general, with a healthy pregnancy and a healthy woman of average size and weight, the recommended weight limit is 40 pounds. But you should ask your ob just to be sure. As one woman already stated, her doctor isn't comfortable with more than 30.
I'm military and we are not allowed to lift more than 25 pounds once pregnant (unfortunately my son is 30 pounds) it's more an issue your joints and ligaments are loose and you can hurt yourself. If I push too hard my lower back will give out.
There's nothing you can do to make yourself miscarry I worked as a cna with my daughter and was constantly lifting and turning people
The abnormality can be correct in miscarriage, generally there's something wrong with attachment or the feutus. Heavy lifting has no proof, if anything major trauma to the abdominal is more cause for worry (eg having blunt force to your tummy). What are some real causes are listeria which people seem to take too little heed of. No soft serve ice cream, no soft cheese, no cold meats etc etc. Also another one people ignore/overlook out of inconvenience is the real risk of too much caffeine and miscarriage.
I read it was because of a chromosomal abnormality but I've always heard if you lift/move heavy stuff or too stressed you can miscarry. Are those old wives tails?
You miscarry because your body can't handle that particular pregnancy, there's no link between lifting heavy things and miscarriage. The reason you don't lift as heavy is because of your pelvis and back, its been loosened so if you lift the wrong way or too heavy it can really hurt and damage it.
I have also been told to continue to lift heavy things at my job after they knew I became pregnant. When I asked my midwife she told me that 30 pounds is the limit on lifting for me. My boss made me get a doctor's note to be pregnant. It is awful because now I am treated differently. I have also been told by two different women that they have had miscarriages because of it. I am also 12 weeks. Maybe you could talk to your boss about your lifting duties and see if there is something else they could have you do instead?
