Introducing myself

Hi Everyone,
My name is Bailey and I am 10w4d pregnant. My EDD is 15th Jan 2009 (just 15 days after mine). This is my second pregnancy - my first pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage last year (found out at 12 week scan). I have my first ultrasound next week just after I am 12 weeks - very excited, nervous and scared at the same time. I heard my little bub's heartbeat on my home doppler 2 days ago, which was amazing and has definitely stopped me worrying about everything (like the graduate loss of symptoms I experienced at 8.5 weeks). I have noticed a lot of women worry about this - and it is completely normal! Your hormones are settling down and are beginning to decrease so it is only natural that your body adjusts and feels better.
Anyway, just introducing myself!

Welcome, Bailey. I also got a home doppler. My next u/s is next monday. Doc puts me at 11 weeks and 3 days. I have had 2 m/c's so I know what you mean about the baby hb making you feel so much beter. I check mine at least once every two days and especially on days when I don't seem to have any preggo symptoms.

Nikko - I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, the doppler was the best thing I have ever bought, and I bet you feel the same! I haven't had any scans are anything done yet so I really have no clue whether my baby is OK or whether it is just a blighted ovum!!! I wouldn't have a clue if it wasn't for my doppler. Hearing the heartbeat has made me look forward to the 12 week scan instead of scared about it.

Laka - I got my doppler from ebay. They range from anywhere between $25 - $200. I paid $130 US plus postage for mine - I wanted one that I thought would be good. And so far it has been great. I got a 3mhz. I researched the difference between 2mhz and 3 mhz and went with the 3mhz because I thought that would help me to hear the heartbeat better, which I have been able to. However, you are taking a risk buying dopplers off ebay, you really don't know how good they will be - I kept an eye on the site for a while until I found something decently priced and that I thought would work OK. You can also hire dopplers. A lot of people hire them from babybeats and many can hear the heartbeat really early. I live in Australia, so hiring them here isn't as easy.
