Measuring 3cm off?

I'm 37 weeks and all of a sudden I'm measuring 3 weeks behind. When last week and every week before then I was measurig right on. Most likely baby has dropped? I really can't tell. I do have menstrual like cramping frequently. I can't get a damn ultrasound until next week, though to know for sure! Is this common when baby has dropped? Just want to make sure what to expect I suppose. Dr said something about induction if the baby IS measuring small. Why is that?

I found out I was pregnant at around 13wks. They gave me a due date of Jan 14. When I went in for my 20wk ultrasound, they changed it to Jan 16 (not too far off, same week) and since then I've been measuring right on. It matched up perfectly with my last period, which was on April 10th. I wish they wouldn't make me wait an entire week to find out what the deal is...

Its possible, it depends on what they are basing your due date off of, a really early ultrasound or your last period, ultrasounds can be up to a week off in either direction. I think especially if you've been measuring on point this whole time until now that the baby has just most likely dropped. At my last appt my doc checked my cervix and im 2 cm and she could feel the babies head already so she didnt even bother measuring my belly

Is it possible that after measuring perfectly all this time, my dates were off?

I agree w/ Sabrina- sounds like the baby decended, is this your first? My midwife told me 1st time babies will drop around 36/37 weeks, but 2nd, 3rd, etc babies not till closer till D-day.

I am due on 12/30- My baby has somewhat dropped and for the most part I had always measured smaller than my actual weeks of gestation. Then around 36- I increased and I believe it was due to how she was actually laying.

Good luck to you and baby, you both should be just fine!!! =D

Sounds like your baby has dropped.  Myne was low to begin with and I only went down 1cm when she dropped further from one week to the next.

My guess on the induction if the baby is small is because he/she is not getting whatever from the placents and will do better being born.  37 weeks is considered full term so from here on out your baby will do just fine if born.

I am 39 weeks tomorrow and can't wait to deliver.  Good luck!
