Hi there,
I myself had a bit of bleeding with my first pregnancy but it was later on in the pregnancy. I know that in early pregnancy bleeding is quite common, and isn't always an indicator of a poor outcome, but should always be checked. Sounds like you did the right thing by going to the ER, and have your appt scheduled with your OB. I found a neat site about bleeding that I often pass on to expectant mom's: http://www.babycenter.ca/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/vaginalspottingorbleeding/
My mother in law (also) has bleeding throughout her entire pregnancy with my Hubby. She said she couldn't even escape bleeding for even 9 months, as it came every month just like her period. She actually didn't even know she was pregnant because her tests also came back negative for months (she says). I know many of my personal friends have had bleeding and worried so much. They all had normal, healthy babies.
I hope everything goes well for you, and that you can keep us all updated.
Make sure you keep a journal of when you do have any bleeding so that you can tell your doctors when it happened to you and how much it was.
In addition to anything I have mentioned, please keep in mind, that while I or others may have extensive knowledge in many areas, you should always seek professional medical advice from your own physician, as it pertains to medical conditions or concerns.
Good luck, and if you have any other questions that I can help you with, please feel free to message me directly.
Sincerely,

I dont know from personal experience but my MIL had bleeding off and on for the first 12 weeks with my sister in law and my own mother had bleeding for a week with my eldest brother. so yes, you can, but you still need to talk to your OB about it just in case.
