Hydrocodone

Ok I am about 15 weeks pregnant and found out I have a blood clot in my lung. The doctor put me on hydrocodone 5/325 for pain and said it wont cross the placenta, and its safe for the baby. Has anyone else had to take this while being pregnant.

Probably a bit late for this answer, sorry, but just read this post.  I, too am taking hydrocodone amongst other pain relievers for problems I am having with my pregnancy.  The doctors do say it is safe, but I understand how scary it is.  This is my third pregnancy and I have had the same complications with each (kidneys and SEVERE pain).  Just wanted to tell you that despite that I have two very healthy and beautiful children!! :oD  They showed NO negative side effects from the medication I was on, and believe me, I was on a lot of it for an extended period of time :o(  Just praying that the same holds true for this little one, I am now 23 weeks along and have just had a MISERABLE week of pain and medication.  My doc even upped me to the 10/500 MG, so as worried as you are, try to relax, your baby should be fine :o)  Hope you are better now!

No they said its going to take a while for me not to be in pain because they can not give me muscle relaxers. Im in so much pain and I am so scared to take the meds. We had an ultrasound done yesterday and we found out we are having a little girl. She is weighing in at 5 oz already and is bigger than what she is supposed to be at this time. So I am relaxed about her but still very scared about if there is any long term effects.

I hope this gets better for you, did they say the clot will go away? I have not had to take hydrocodone, but have taken codeine for back pain. It is incredibly scary to take anything, but I would think your doc knows best. Good luck!
