Practice breathing in womb!

I thought I was absolutely crazy last night.. it was late, we'd had a LONGGG day of shopping for our little man for Christmas, so I took a shower and laid down on the couch and noticed my stomach was moving pretty fast up and down, definitely 100% not hiccups, those are more jerking than pulsating, and it felt just like when someone runs really fast and stops, and breathes quickly for a minute after, or breathing really fast. And I freaked out, I've never felt that before, never with my son, and the first time this pregnancy, so I called my l&d and they told me ohh that's probably just your little one practicing breathing, it's pretty common in the 3rd trimester. SO I get off the phone and do some research, and that is exactly what it was, her practicing breathing! It's so cool to feel those kind of things, and soo exciting that she's readying her lungs, I can't wait to snuggle her!!! Anyone else feel anything like this?!

It was scary at first, not knowing what it was, but definitely a relief to find out what it is, and that it's good! You may have felt them but not noticed, my little girls hiccups feel very jerky and quick, this was more smooth and pulsing, I think I only felt it because her back/butt was pressed out. Very cool feeling!

Ur probably right. I remember I thought she was kicking and I told my Dr and she said it was too high for her...turned out it was her kicking. So I probably felt her breathing like that and didn't realize it

I never felt it with my son and did with my little girl too!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling this, and the only one that didn't know they did this!! Haha, I thought I was crazy!! They do say girls lungs mature quicker in the womb than a boys (not sure how true that is) so it makes sense, and often hiccups I've been told is a good sign that they're practice breathing!
