need advise

Ok so i only have 9 days left untill my due date, and tomorrow i have a doctor appointment. My fiance just got officially hired onto his job 2 days ago. We dont want to have my fiance up and leave his work when i go into Labor if he happens to be at work when it happens. I want to talk to my doctor about an inducement date so that he can get 2 days off for the day of my labor and for the day after to help me at the hospital. Do you guys think that that is a good idea? His manager for his department knows im due any day now and shes understanding about it, but we dont want the other 2 managers to think he is a bad employee. What do you guys think?

My hubby and I are going through the same thing. His work just told him to bring in a doctor's note saying that I gave birth (I guess ppl have lied about having a kid just to get out of work...). As for paternity leave, y'all should look at the laws on it where you live. Here in North Carolina the man is entitled to up to a month of paternity leave (depending on the situation) but it's the employer's decision of whether or not they pay the employee.
I don't think the other managers will think your man is a bad employee and if they do, screw them!  They can't fire him for leaving to witness the birth of his child because they hired him fully knowing the situation.
As for induction, my doctor talked to me about it and in my opinion, I don't really like the risks. I'm almost 40 weeks. If she's not here by 41 weeks they're gonna schedule an induction. If I were you I would wait till it's absolutely necessary because my doctor gave me a pamphlet on it and some of the risks are:
*labor may last longer
*push time may last longer
*there's a higher risk of emergency c-section with induction vs natural labor
And I've heard from a lot of people that the pitocin drip is no joke. You don't ease into strong contractions, it takes you straight there.
However all of this is your decision. Only you know what's best for you. I hope this helps and good luck with everything.

We are in a similar situation and we will schedule an induction for 39 weeks. Thus will be my 3rd induction so I am not scared at all.In the end you have to do what is best for you and your family.

Things like that employers will understand as you was pregnant before he got the job. Its all part of life. Dr won't induce you as there is nothing wrong with the baby. Don't stress about it. In the UK the dad's can take either one week or two week paternity leave. So that ain't much
