prenatal classes

Can anyone guide me regarding pre natal classes? Are they really useful?

honestly, I did without them. I relied on experience (my younger sister n I are 5 years apart n my younger brother n I are 11 years apart) when it came to taking care of my son. I also looked things up on the internet such as birthing videos. I looked up both home/natural and hospital births so that I knew what to expect. You can even watch classes from birthing, breathing techniques, breastfeeding, pretty much anything. But if you're more of a hands on person who likes a class setting then it wouldn't hurt to sign up for classes elsewhere.

Since it's my first, we are going to go. Other ppl told me a lot of things come up that you may not have thought of.

I didn't go to prenatal classes however my hospital offered breastfeeding classes and I wish I had gone to that.  There is so much to know about breastfeeding and I feel that had I gone I could have done better.  I let my supply get low and that caused some serious frustrations on top of the normal frustrations of being a new mom.  If you plan to breastfeed, I highly recommend you educate yourself so you don't have those worries later on.  But prenatal classes I think you can do without but if you feel like they would benefit you it can't hurt either.  Best of luck mommies! :)

My mother keeps trying to push me into them. I'm not sure that I want to, although it would be nice to get together w other expecting mothers. I'm still on the fence about it.

I've heard it's a great way to connect with other mothers if you're looking to build a network/friendships like that. I'm pregnant with my first and plan to at least give them a shot.

I went with my first and it's helpful to learn about labor, but I didn't use anything Lamaze taught me while in labor. Some people do benefit, but it all went out the window for me because it wasn't what I found helpful at the time.

I didnt go when i had my 1st baby they give you every senario and it freaks you out. I used the whats ment to be will be appraoach so when i went into delivery i had a clear mind and no expectations at all. It wasnt that bad and i did fine. It to me goes to into details you dont always need. Just my opinion.
