Hi all,

I think I'm around 5 or 6 weeks and I'm really struggling with lightheadedness (especially when I sit up from a lying down position), fatigue and a queezy feeling throughout the day. I seem to have a lot of food aversions as well. This is really getting me down because I want to enjoy this time. Do you know if these symptoms generally disappear in the 2nd trimester?

Thanks a bunch!

I had the same exact problem, it was like my whole 5th week and then by 6 weeks it seems like it has gone away. Im now 6 weeks 5 days.

Hi Kelly,

I have a history of being anemic due to heavy periods, so I am taking additional iron on top of the multivitamin. The dizziness has subsided a bit today and I've been eating small amounts so that's helping. Thanks for the lollipop suggestion, where do I buy them?

I just noticed some light brown spotting when I went to the bathroom, so now I'm feeling worried. I know light brown spotting is common so I'm just keeping an eye on it since my first doctor's appointment isn't until January and I have no health insurance until then! What a bummer, huh!

Thanks!

The dizzyness could also be from low Iron. I was anemic with my frist pregnancy and my doc put me on Iron pills. Have your doc check your Iron levels. Also there are lollypops called B-Natal that work really well to relieve morning sickness. Good luck!

Thanks for all your support, advice and suggestions. I woke up this morning and thought I was better but now that I'm up and walking around, the woozie feeling is still here, with a little nausea. I'm trying not to focus on it and to busy myself with other things but it's difficult. I know I'm going to end up vomiting at some point. My husband is a really nice guy but I can tell he's worried that the whole pregnancy  he's going to have to deal with me running to the bathroom to throw-up, or not having any energy to do fun things, or walking around looking pale and sickly. I do hope this passes because it's really awful. I think the worst part is knowing how important it is for me to eat and drink, stay hydrated, etc, and yet feel worried that if I do eat, I'll throw it up. I'm noticing smells are starting to bother me now, too. I think I'll do what ya'll suggested and have some crackers throughout the day and sip water or ginger tea. Dry toast with jam seems to be okay but I know I'm supposed to be eating fruits, veggies and proteins. All the best to you all!

Hi ladies, I'm not where you all are yet.  I'm barely experiencing nausea but I had my first real bout yesterday.  I admire you ladies for getting through that day in and day out.  Anyways, I lived with my best friend throughout her entire pregnancy and took care of her.  She had morning sickness until she was 5 months.  These are things that helped her out:
*She avoided all foods where the smell or sight made her feel ill.
*Lots of little meals as opposed to large meals.  I've been doing this too.
*She ate slowly, very slowly.  I've been doing this too.
*She ate lots of crackers or dry toast if she couldn't stomach anything.
*She cut out sugars (and of course, added them back in after it stopped!)
*She chewed on ginger when she could stomach it and/or had ginger loose leaf tea.  Ginger Ale did not help her at all.
*She switched her prenatal vitamins to a probiotic vitamin called New Chapter Perfect Prenatal.  It is available at WholeFoods or Trader Joes or Natural Health Stores.  It is very expensive but it's what I take now.  It can be taken on an empty stomach and is known to help reduce nausea and fatigue in early pregnancy. Most vitamins normally make me sick to my stomach, I have been fine with this one so far.
*I cooked the majority of meals for her until she could handle smells better (around her 3rd month).  Now if only I could find a way to convince my husband to do this...
*Fresh air and walks sometimes helped her when she was feeling particularly bad.
*She did say that around her 3rd month it got easier.  She would just be sick and feel perfectly fine afterwards.  It will get better!!!  All the best!!!

yeah I have been vomitting a lot in the late morning, early afternoon. Then I am just nauseous all day, I do eat though because I am always hungry.

Hi everyone.  I was just reading this forum and just wanted to say I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this :( .  I am approx 6 weeks along and I am basically nauseous every waking moment.  ugh.  After ttc for over 2 years, this is hard to take.

My mom just informed me that her morning sickness w/me lasts 6 months!  My poor mom.

I stopped taking my prenatal vitamin (except for the essential ones) and hope this helps a bit.

On top of this I eat all day long b/c I'm famished.  I don't know understand how this is possible... nauseous and famished @ the same time?

Thanks for letting me vent!

Oops, I re-read the advice I receive.  Someone suggested that you eat a small amount before you get out of bed, not drinking small sips of liquid.  By the way, I was told if you're having vomitting/dry heaving 2 times a day or more, your doc could put you on meds to help.  Though, a friend said that the drugs were super expensive.

Thank you for sharing...
I am dry heaving now, and still feel dizzy. I'm not sure if I should eat or not, but maybe I'll try some dry toast.

Thanks again to both of you. It really helps not to feel so alone...

I've been told eating small amounts, saltines, and ginger ale soda help.  Was also told that sipping liquids may help, perhaps even before you get out of bed.  Eating small amounts helped a little with me.  I don't like soda so I didn't try the ginger ale.  I haven't tried the saltines or having small sips because I've been feeling pretty good these last 2 days.  I was really sick last week and earlier this week, including vomiting and dry heaving.  But I feel pretty good right now and I'm only 7 weeks.  Hopefully I'll continue to feel well and you will too.

I hear for most women it ends around the time the second trimester is supposed to start but for an unlucky few it goes through the pregnancy. I am the same way you are around my 6th week I was nauseous all day and it just seems to get worse and worse as I get farther a long. I am not basically 8 weeks (tomorrow) and I have a lot of food aversions as well. So you are not alone sweetie and I hope that you are apart of the many women that nausea ends around the second trimester!
