Bacterial Vaginosis

I've had a previous infection with bacterial vaginosis within the past year, and was treated with Flagyl gel.  I am 5 weeks pregant with my second child, and have been diagnosed with it again.  I am confused, does having bacterial vaginosis put me at an increased risk to have a miscarriage or not? Is the risk only there when the infection is, or is this something that puts me at a risk to have a miscarriage even when the infection isn't present?

If you catch it early I wold say you should be fine. ALthough I do no tthink they perscibe Flagal during pregnancy. Make sure you never douch! It strips the natural things your body makes to keep infection away. Make sure you pertner washes his thing before too. He might have had a garm on him and it got in you. THey hold it with theri hand remember. Also you might try to change your diet for a while to change the acidity down there to help keep it away. I know yeast infections are common in early pregnancy but I am not sure about what you have. You can llokk up standard Process and find something to help with that area. THat is what I use and have never taken a drug for a UTI. Actually I take that back I had to once but it did not help and then got the wholefood stuff and on two day was better. Also do not use any kind of soap down there or a wash cloth as it has soap and or fabric softner on it. Just plain soap and water. Hope you feel better soon! I am suer they have meds that you can take during pregnancy if you need to.

Infections can  cause mc but like I said if you deal with it fast it should not.

Try asking in the forums that have a doctor present. If someone here has had the same experience as you they may be able to share their story, but it doesn't seem likely.

Wish I could help more!
