I know my leep when I was 18 was very aggresive.. 1/4 to 1/2 of my cervicx was removed.  I was getting mine measured at 12 weeks with my daughter every 2 weeks at 18 weeks they noticed it was very short and called me to to tell me they wanted to see me every week... 2 days later I was in the hosptial.  My son, I had the cerclage (stich) at 12 weeks - this one I am going to the high risk drs on 1/6 - 11w3days - the would have liked to have seen me sooner but no available appointments.. meeting with Dr to schedule cerclage before week 13.

I have been worried that I could possibly have an incompetent cervix as well because I have previously had a leep procedure and had a D & C on August 21st of this year! I am currently 12 1/2 weeks pregnant and mentioned it to my Doctor last Wednesday and she said that would measure it at my 20 week ultrasound! I worry that something could go wrong before then though!

I would consider it extreamly necessary.  I have an incompetent cervix and went into labor at 19 weeks.  Completely hospitalized bedrest until 32 weeks when she was born via emergency c section. I had a cerclage with my son 5 years ago - and just made my appointment to see the high risk doctor for the consult on my cerclage for this pregnancy. I am 10 weeks 1 day.  I would follow your doctors recommendation
