Losing weight (not purposely) Is that bad? Worried!!?

I've lost loads of weight since I became pregnant. I am not purposely losing weight (if you're wondering) I have been trying to gain weight but im just not gaining. My pre-pregnant weight was 243 and now I am at 213...My stomach isn't losing weight its growing with the baby, but I'm losing weight ever where else. Is this normal or even safe. I don't go to the dr until Jan 28 because medicaid finally came through and all. I am really worried about the baby. I did go to ER in December near Christmas because of very light spotting but the baby was fine. I am now 16w 1 day and I am still losing weight...Should I be worried?

Yes definitely don't worry! I did the same thing with both pregnancies (20 with DD, 16 with this)...your baby takes everything s/he needs just like they say :). It's only a problem in women who are very small because there's not much for the baby to take!

Thanks for the comments I was so worried. My friends keep telling me the baby is eating everything away from me and that's why I'm losing weight.  They keep telling me not to worry, but I couldn't help it.

I will be 17 weeks this Wenesday and have only gained a lb. The baby itself and the placenta is less thena lb at 15 weeks so it is nto a problem. I started out at 155.5. THat is over weight, well actually concidered obese for my height 5'4". If you are over weight it is fine not to gain weight till the end of the second trimester, the last couple weeks to be exact. It is normal to loose weight in the first trimester and the fact you are loosing the baby is burning it off if you are not trowing up alot enough to loose it. It is fine and over weight woman shoudl only gain 11-15lbs the whole pregnany and that is if you go the full 40 weeks, obese woman. I do nto know how tall you are. I know woman with more then 40% BMI does nto even have to gain any weight during their pregnancy unless they have deit and specail cerumstances. So you are fine. At first my dr was not liking my lack of weight gain but it is becasue I have a hyperthyriod. But it seems good and as long as the baby is growing at the same rate then all is fine and it will jsut be easier for you to get back in shape afterwards!!!! I think you are doing great and just eat right and it will not matter if you do not gain weight and loose some. You can see by my pictures my belly ahs gained inches, I am pear shaped so it was flat before.

I wouldn't quite worry as of yet. Just make sure to keep taking your prenatals and eat as you should. Have you had really bad morning sickness, etc? You may be loosing weight but as long as the baby is gaining. Just make sure you tell your dr when you go on the 28th.
