I'm glad you posted this question because I was wondering if I lost my mucus plug yesterday during my bb shower (I know it's very late for a shower considering I'm scheduled for a c-section on June 1st) it was very mucusy and slimmy.
I do have a follow-up question....I thought once you lost your mucus plug your water would break. This is my first pregnancy so forgive me if I sound silly.
@Maderella2 hahahaha omg. the way you said that make me LOL literally.
and i don't even know if that's what it was or not. So I'm going to try to stop picking at every little detail and let whatever happens, happen whenever it wants to.
@tjmenez10- My OB told me that losing your mucous plug means absolutely nothing at all. That some women freak out bc they lose them really early, but they can regenerate. I know people who have lost theirs and didnt go into labor for 4 weeks.
Yep, Rhi315 is right - just because you lose your mucus plug, or some of it, doesn't mean labor is immediate. It can re-build itself or it may just be another few weeks before labor starts. I lost mine in two big nasty snotty reddish chunks (TMI) on a Friday and was induced the following Thursday, 6 days later. I was induced at 40 weeks 4 days. Who knows when my labor would have actually started, but I'm guessing not much longer after that since I was already 40 weeks. In your case, you have a couple weeks yet, so yours might rebuild itself and you may lose it again. But, now that you're full term (37 weeks by some charts - 38 weeks by others), if you do go in to labor, your baby will be healthy and ready to take on the world! :-)
Hahaha yeah kinda gross I know... but thats good to know that it doesnt really matter just like dialating... Are there any real signs labor is soon?? Hahaha
Yeah, I asked my Dr. to check me today, and I'm still closed =/. I know that being dilated doesn't mean labor will begin soon, but I feel like, any bit of dilation you can get in before labor begins the better off you are, or shorter your labor will be. I go back weekly now, yay =] these few weeks are going to FLY by. I just know it.
So what does this mucos plug look like?
