Probably depends where you are from. They usually do scans from 6-8 weeks only if there is a real need for it. At 10-12 weeks its usually for a first scan as the fetus would by this time have a heartbeat and would have formed completely. Usually ladies only discover they are pregnant around 4-5 weeks, so if you havent told your doctor yet, tomorrow's appointment might be the one where you'd confirm it (ensuring that your home bfp is a bfp on their side too) then they'd set you up for antenatal appointments (scans, test etc) in the upcoming milestone weeks.
