I've only ever had my husband with me in labor, and that's how I like it. I labor very quietly and introspectively, so extra people is not my idea of a great labor. If you or your husband is outspoken enough to get what you need during labor, you won't need a doula, unless you just want someone there for reassurance.
I use to be a souls before having my first. I highly recommend them. They are wonderful and help you to have the best outcome for your birth. They give suggestions to help labor progress and help you cope through the labour. I started to take hypnosis birthing classes but my son came early so we only attended two of the eight classes. I think it's good but would also recommend regular prenatal classes to understand what's scientifically happening in the body especially for a first time mom.
What are hypnobabies classes?
