When r u stopping work?

Wish I could stay home sooner than 2 weeks before my due date. It's the minimum time I could start mat leave.Mat leave is 16 weeks so the 2 weeks are included! I'm in Canada working for company under international laws so I don't qualify for 1 year may leave. It would be unpaid if I took it.

I was laid off from my job in late Jan of this year and me and my bf decided for me not to worry about finding another job as I would have to leave it anyway as I will be a stay at home mom when baby arrives bcuz we don't feel comfortable with daycares so early in a baby's life

I had to stop working for medical reasons at 38 weeks with my first. This time around I'm really hoping to make it at least that far but my blood pressure is already starting to get a little high so I may have to stop sooner for my health and the baby's. We'll see what happens.

Last pregnancy I worked until the day I had the baby. Got off of work at 4, ended up in the hospital that evening. I'm glad I did because then I got more time with my baby. Remember, you can have the baby two weeks before you due date (my first two babies came two weeks before due date), my girlfriend was induced when she was nine days past her due date. So if you go past your due date by a week and you took 2 weeks off when the baby comes you would have already taken 3 weeks off (my mom had 5 children only 1 was born on the due date). I understand though wanting off early to rest/prepare/relax etc, just be aware that the due date is just an estimate & when the baby is ready to arrive the baby will come.

Do they only give u 16 weeks mat leave in usa?
Thats not really fair at all!!!
I live in oz and we get 18 weeks paid mat leave but then our job gets held for us for 12 months until we go back to work. After the 12 months if u dont go back they are legally allow to give ur job away.
I cant imagine how stresdful it would be to know you only get 16 weeks off!!

I get 16 weeks but must leave between 2 to 6 weeks before due date. The minimum is 2 so I have no choice but to take it... Some women get the doc to fake the due date so that They can take only 1 week off before EDD. But thats though to convince a doc. Technically you end up loosing your mat leave days and if baby comes  in due date, you get a max of 14 weeks only with the baby, although, I guess it still beats 6weeks in the states.

I'm finishing at 33 wks, I'm so over my job already, I'm a nurse working permanent split nights, I spend two days recovering in bed before going back to work. I'm exhausted! I will apply for govt paid 18 wks in Australia when baby is born but other then that they hold my job for 12 months which I can extend by a further 12 months if I want more time off.... Tbh I don't think I will ever go back to this job.... Hate it hate it hate it!!!!
