Before I became pregnant I was receiving care from a pain management Dr. From a back injury I sustained from a car accident. I would do back injections combined with being prescribed percocet as part of my treatment. Once I became pregnant, I told my pain management Dr & we both agreed to discontinue treatment during my pregnancy. Everything was fine until about 34 weeks pregnant, when I slipped & fell down about 8 stairs at work. My back was in excruciating pain so without asking my pain Dr or my obgyn I just started taking my leftover percocet prescription. I did some research first to make sure this wasn't going to harm the fetus. But now I'm past 38 weeks and I fear the baby may test positive for opiates & cps may be called. I'm also concerned the baby may go through withdrawel. There's about 11 days to my due date. If I completely stop now, will they be out of the baby's urine? I obtained the percocet through a legal prescription from my Dr but I am scared to tell my obgyn. I would rather just stop now and not have it in the baby's system. I don't think the baby or myself will go through withdrawel because it was such a small amount of percocet for such a small amount of time. But it is a concern. Anyway my question is if I stop now will the baby be positive? Will they even test my baby?
