menu ideas for baby

My friend and I started sharing menu ideas, so I thought I would post here - I find it inspiring to see what you are serving up as I have no experience in this dept!

Yesterday: Hayden had oatmeal and pureed fruit medley; Lunch was cheese tortellini - I let her eat 3 or 4 broken up and then i pureed the rest and mixed with squash, also had spinach puffs; Dinner was pureed roasted chicken mixed with applesauce and a yogurt, plus a stella dora breadstick (she stuff LOADS in her mouth at once!) - but i think she likes chomping her teeth on the hard things.

Today she had pancakes for breakfast, cantaloupe and a little oatmeal. Lunch was green beans and squash and leftover pancake...tonight I might test some turkey meatloaf out - but I put too much BBQ sauce in it so it is spicy. Not sure how that will fly!

Here is what Jack gets on a weekly basis...for the most part (if I am having a lazy day we do all jarred food). I try to keep jarred food to a once a day occurance and purres to once a day maybe two if I feel like I am running out of ideas.

Breakfast - Nature's Best Oatmeal with 3 cubes of pureed fruit (apples, pears,          mangoes). After that I give him either a banana or a organic blueberry waffle.

Lunch - Deli turkey/roast beef, cheese slice, yogurt, slice of wheat bread, cooked pasta

Dinner - mixed veggies, maybe some pureed yams/squash/avacados

Snacks - Organic cereal bar, melty puffs

I think that is about it. Jack will also eat some things that Jim and I eat. For example, tonight we had bbq pulled chicken sandwiches and backed beans. Jack just about had a coronary trying to get our food. He just loved it. :)

Hope this helps.

thanks irish - i have not tried the cereal bars. I will look into getting those.

Whole Foods has food for kids and I bought this dora the explorer Edamame - and Hayden LOVES it! It took some serious focus for her to pick each piece up and put it in her mouth and they she started to feed me. It was so cute...and I guess they are super healthy so maybe I can start giving her more Edamame and less cheese puffs!

We give Leighton edamame... I used to puree it when she was solely on pureed.

Breakfast: combo of either 1/2 blueberry waffle or 3 tbsp. banana & 1/2 banana or 1/4 c. applesauce or 10 grapes quartered

Lunch: 2 soy chicken nuggets, 1/4 c. yogurt, 1/4 c. yellow veggie

Snack: diced up fruit, slice of cheese, 1/2 slice of whole wheat bread or cracker

Dinner: It varies... sometimes she eats what we are eating and other times she can't (we eat A LOT of very spicey dishes)  So, she will have: 1/4 c. pasta w/ sauce, green veggie (usually peas... these are her favorites.  At dinner is also when we give her edamame too), and 1/4 c. diced fruit (we recently starteed dicing up grapes so these seem to be her new favorite)

I just found this great treat at costco. It is made by a company called Sun-rype. They are all natural fruit bars with no sugar added. I read the ingredients, and all that is in them are fruit so they are moderately healthy. I like them because they make good snacks for when I am driving or on the go. Mark LOVES them....
