Camping??

So this weekend my husband wants to go camping :-(   We live in Phoenix,  AZ where its suppos to be like 115 or so.... BUT we will be going about 2 hours away by flagstaff which I think it will be maybe??? about 20 degrees cooler...

Now I have never been camping - Like Really camping(sleeping in a tent), and I was wondering if its ok to take Noah out for a night or two (I think we are only staying overnight)? Is it safe? Would it be too hot? We would have air mattresses..... Any one gone camping with a little one before? Any advice or must brings?

That is how I feel too... I would rather Stay home but my husband is dead set on going, I sure he wouldnt mind if me and Noah stayed lol.... i am not big on camping.... I love the out doors but love to come home and sleep in my own bed!

Wow thats a good idea, I am going to try the ice pack thingy bc it gets SOOO hot out here, even the air in the car doesnt seem to work right when its 109 Degrees!

Oh and I like to get ice packs (I don't know how you can keep them frozen unless you have access to a freezer..) and I wrap them in a receiving blanket. I tuck them in between Blake and her car seat and they keep her cool. I did that when we went to the zoo and the Arts Festival. I forgot about it for the 4th so I just dumped ice water (mostly ice) in a thick burp cloth and laid it over her legs or sponged off her head every once in awhile.

I agree that it is a hassle to take a baby anywhere like this. We do it a lot...we are always going somewhere. :)

i am sure it is safe and you would be fine, but personally i would not want the stress. we went last weekend to a beach town and i was constantly worried about hayden getting sunburned or mosquitos. If it was my first time camping and with a new babe - i would likely postpone until the peanut was just a little bigger/older...

I don't mean to sound like a party pooper, but i'd just put it off for now b/c i am slightly neurotic.

I don't know how the mosquitos are there in AZ but here in OK they are everywhere! We got one of those Off Fans...it is a mini fan the fans mosquito repellent around a small perimeter. We used it over the 4th and Blake didn't get a bite on her! Check it out if you have mosquitos!

Pack and Play definatley we take ours with us wherever we go.  It is nice to keep Mady on schedule even if we stay out late.  And I feel safe having her in there and not sleeping in bed with us.  We bought Mady one of those fans that spray water a hand held it is really nice when it is hot and she loves it.  Have fun!

I would have to think it would be fine.  I am down in Tucson and know how desperate everyone is to get out of the heat (although, it was 70 here last night... gotta love the monsoons!!!)  We went to Mt. Lemmon last weekend and the high was only 75.  So, I would have to think Flagstaff would be about the same right now.

I think Noah would have a blast with you guys.  If you have a play yard you might want to bring that to set up for him to sleep in.... that way he is off the ground and protected in there.  Also, if you have a front carrier you could take him on walks/hikes with you guys and he could stare at everything from your vantage point.  Have fun if you go... you will have to let us know how it went :)
