Monday Updates

Leighton turned 10 months on the 3rd... is anyone else beginning to think about 1st birthday party ideas?!  haha

She is doing great.  She is still pulling herself on anyone and anything to stand, but is now terrified to "walk".  She gets this paranoid look and then "hits the deck".  So strange too, because a few weeks ago she loved holding on to our hands and going for a walk.  So, something must have clicked and now she is a little leary : /

She did add a new word to her vocabulary.  She now says "duck".  So, we will ask her what the duck is and she says "duck".  Very cool :)

This morning while I was changing her she gave me her gorgeous little smile and I saw that her two middle top teeth are poking through.  Once those guys come in, she will have a total of 4 teeth... all in the center, top & bottom.

Hope everyone had a great holiday... we did and now I feel like I am paying for it in exhaustion!  lol

So cool about the duck word Ovaz!

Hayden is good - she stands all the time now without holding on to anything for support, so I think those first steps will happen in the next few weeks. When she stands I ask her to "clap hands" because it makes her work on her balance.

She drives her little car around our building and understands "honk the horn" now. Drew taught her to do kisses and she does them  with a full open mouth. I also taught her "hugs"

Changing her has always been hard but it is especially so now - I have a squirmy/wiggly baby for sure!

She ***** her thumb all the time. I hear at 9 months you have to kill the pacifier, but there is not much to do about the thumb. Ahhh, oh well.

I am tired too from the holiday! Happy New Year ladies!

Phin is standing on his own as well and loves to wave things at you- blocks, stuffies, cloths. He also plays patty-cake by himself which is adorable. He has taught himself to wave, which surprised Chris and I.

Changing him is a feat of patience and calmness. Sometimes I am tempted to just let him loose all commando. But then I get over it and wrestle him into the diaper.

I am pretty sure he will be walking soon but I really am not rushing it....lol. As it is yesterday he got freakishly quiet and when I looked over he was happily eating dog food...ugh. Yep my baby had dog food breath.

We have had about 33 inches of snow dumped on us since the weekend and it is snowing again right now. I brought a bunch of snow inside and let Phin play with it. It was hysterical. He was excited and nervous all at the same time. Have to get him a sled soon.

It is official....bananas make Phin puke. He has yet to eat banana without gagging and upchucking. No matter the ripeness factor or the texture (mashed, chunked, sliced or diced) he will throw up the second banana hits his tastebuds. Our first real dislike.

AFM-School starts back up in 2 weeks and I am excited but I really just want to stay home with my boy. One of my classes is a split night class..so I go for 1 1/2 hrs twice a week (instead of 3 hrs once a week). The bad part is that I will get hoe 20 minutes before bedtime...just in time to nurse. But I will miss dinner, bathtime and play time....

Mark will be 10 months old on the 9th.

*Sigh* Right before I started typing I was watching Mark toddle across the living room floor.... He is such a happy little boy, with the sweetest smile that melts my heart every time he looks at me. These past ten months have been so wonderful- I really feel so blessed to be his mother.

Okay, I have been sappy enough for everyone this morning? ;)

We have started planning a small family birthday party for Mark, but I am not going to go overboard.

Mark will push his toys cars around on the carpet, and he is starting to figure out how his shape sorter works. He has taken to climbing everything that he can, which makes for a really nervous Mama! Yesterday I had to pull him off of a rocking chair repeatedly... he just wanted to sit where everyone else does!

Ovaz- Good for Leighton! I can't get Mark to go beyond Dada or gurgling yet. :)

Mark's top two teeth are just starting to come down, so now he will have 4. Kele- I am always pulling dog food out of Mark's mouth- the little stinker! I don't know what it is with babies and animal food- it's not like it tastes good!

Mady is 9 months now!  She is walking with the help of her walker, couch or the table like crazy.  She always wants to be down now.  She still only has 2 teeth but I think her top two are trying to push through, you can see the outline of them.  We have started brushing everynight, now that she has teeth.  Does anyone else do this?  She totally loves it.  I usually brush them let her "brush" them herself..  She say kitty it is too cute, she has for about 3 weeks, she sees one at my MIL house every other day when she has her and that is her scape goat when I leave.  She is now calling the dog at our house kitty we are trying to teach her doggy.  She has been saying dada for awhile but no mama. How do animals rate over me?

Mady eats all the time, she loves food!!!  We usually give her bite size pieces of our food.  At breakfast she does a jar of breakfast blends, it is easier since she is at different places.  Lunch is usually 2 cubes of veggies and some meat or fruit.  She was only a boob milk baby but recently my boobs are not producing nearly enough milk, so we started 1 bottle of formula a day yesterday.  It is a bit said but what can you do?  I don't wanna stress over it.  She is taking the formula fine, so whatever works.

We are finally on a schedule, she sleeps really well in her bed here and is working on it a my MIL house.  I am back to work again.  I really miss the time with Mady though.  It stinks to leave her everyday.  Mady is a huge thumbsucker too.  I think they will eventually break the habit.  I hope!!!!

Enjoy your week!!!

Kele - I can totally relate to the diapering - it is SUCH a task! She is so squirmy. I was at a friends last week and she weazled her way out of a diaper and then peed on the hard wood floor.

Jules, Hayden has had 6 teeth (4 top and 2 bottom) since 7 months, so we have been brushing at night too. Sometimes I forget (oops!). She mostly just chews on the brush. I had forgot to as my ped about this at our 9 month - do you use just water?

Jules & Jem...

We also brush Leighton's 2 bottom teeth (the top ones are only poking through!)  We only use water for now... I know that there is toothpaste for little ones out there, we just haven't made our way to the store to get it.  We have a vibrating tooth brush that we use on her and it has this attachment for a gum massager.  So, we use the gum massager on her first, and then the actual brush attachment after that.  She loves having her teeth brushed.  I wonder how long that will actually last for though!?  LOL

Kele & Jem...

Amen to diaper changes!  haha

I am a bit behind on my Monday update. ;)

Let's see.....Jack will be 10 months on the 12th. He is a complete tazmanian devil around the house. He seems to be crawling faster and faster everyday and getting into everything...he helps with the laundry (stands at the laundry basket and smiles), putting away my tupperware (eating the lids), and wonderfully organizes my office papers ( I hear paper is a good source of fiber when eaten properly) ;). In just the past couple of days he has been standing on his own for about 15 seconds. Lord help me when this kids starts to walk. :)

I think that is about it. Everything else is pretty normal. He has 6 teeth (which are brushed when I remember...bad mommy), diapering is ok. He loves his changing table so no problems there. Though if you ask my husband it will be a different story. Jack pees on him constantly. You would think by now he would learn to cover up that firehose....men. ;)

Hope everyone's New Year is going well.

Oh and Ovaz...I have been thinking aobut party ideas lately. I think we are going to keep it small this year. We are in an apartment so having a big party would be too hectic. We also have a number of friends with kids who are 1 and 2 years old so our place would be no fun for them (too small). I think having just the grandparents and aunt and uncle will do just fine. I am still in a debate with DH about the size...hopefully I will win this battle. ;) I am thinking I will do a yellow rubber ducky theme. Jack just loves chewing on the rubber ducky bath toy. We took a picture of him with it in his mouth the other day. I think I will customize the invitations with his picture and get a bunch of yellow ducky decorations. It should be a fun day. :)
