baby in bed?

ok - I am obviously a little "post happy" today - maybe b/c we had a rough day...

who is sleeping with baby in bed? every night? mornings only? not at all?

SIDS risks scare me with co-sleeping, but she gets so awake every time I put her in her bed!!

I'm not sleeping w/ my son in bed. I didn't want to get him started on that. He sleeps in his bassinet next to me. It has wheels on it, so it's easy to move around. He's a noisy sleeper, so I don't even have to get up to figure out if he's breathing or not. I can just hear him Lol. I do freak out about SIDS.. But I always try to check on him as much as possible. Last night for the first time, he slept like 5-6 hrs straight! I was so happy.

Hey Jem...

For the first week or so we couldn't figure out where Leighton was comfortable sleeping.  It was rediculous.  Anyway, we bought a sleep positioner to put in between my husband and I in our king size bed.  She slept there from about week 2-4 1/2.  At around 4 1/2 weeks we put her in her crib.  She raised h ell and back again, but John and I were feeling really disconected from one another with her sleeping with us.  But, after I feed her around 6:30-7:30am, she comes into our room to be in bed with us until we get up usually around 8:00am-8:30.  Hope that helps!!!

Carter sleep at the end of our bed in the playpen (he hated the bassinet) When we put him back after the middle of the night feeding he only last 1 hour is we are lucky then my husband brings him into the bed with him. I have to sleep in the spare room because he (Carter) is such a noisy sleeper i don't get any sleep/

We put Madasyn in her co sleeper when she passes out usually on the boob of course.  When she wakes in the middle of the night I bring her in bed to feed then try to put her back, usually at the 630 feeding she stays in bed with us, because we fall asleep feeding.  I have started putting her on her belly to sleep I know completely against the rules, we all sleep this way though, right?  This is the only way she will stay alseep because she flares around so much otherwise.  My DH and I wake a lot to check her breathing a lto, but this is just what works for us.  We havent tries the cribyet bc it is on the 2nd floor and out bedroom is on the first.

I am terrified of SIDS also.... I even bought on of those breathing moniters... it will sound and alarm if your child stops breathing!!! I paid tons for it! LOL but it only does me any good if he sleeps in his bed! We do put him in his crib to start off the night but the early hour feedings is when he gets in the bed with us.... its so hard, and he seems to just sleep better with us.... My first did end up sleeping with me until she was about 6 -8  months!

So I am right there with you Jem, I am so afraid of SIDS, but usually in the middle of the night when I try to put Madison in her basinet she fusses for at least 30 minutes. She usually sleeps in there for the first few hours she is asleep at night, then once she wakes up for her feeding she sleeps in bed with us.

To help a little bit, I do grab her sleep positioner out of her basinet and put her in that. I scoot over to the middle of the bed and clear everything off of where I am going to put her, so there isn't a risk of a blanket or pillow accidentally getting tossed near her. I figure she is only a month old, I still have plenty of time to get her used to sleeping alone. I also try during the day to lay her in her crib or basinet to sleep, to help her get more used to it.

Mark sleeps in bed with us as did our first (until he was 8 months old). When we initially fall asleep he goes in the co sleeper, but once he awakes at night he comes in bed with us. We have a king size bed and I only use a sheet to sleep so the risk of sids goes way down. They say that co sleeping can help and infant remember to breathe, but I ust love connecting with my baby in bed as a family. ;)
