so unprepared....help!

So Im 37 weeks, and I went to my dr appt last friday and he did the strep b test (which I haven't gotten results for yet) and he asked if i wanted to know if i was dialated.  i said no, because first of all im not used to having a guy dr so its already awkward and secondly if i am im gonna be even more anxious and if im not ill prob be disappointed!

I havent gotten ANYTHING for baby yet because i was considering adoption and now im so close to the end and all i have is a car seat my friend is loaning me.  has anybody else been so unprepared!?  i also just moved outta my apt cuz my roommates are nuts and were threatening me....which btw, moving at 36 weeks preggers is NOT easy!  anyways, anybody have any advice on what i should do? i dont have very many friends, and like no family, and the babys father isn't involved so a baby shower seems kinda pointless...

Thanks and yeah I have leaned towards parenting mostly but because of my age and financial situation I decided adoption would be a good thing to check on.  I don't want my baby to have a bad life.  i also got a lot of pressure from the babys father to do adoption, but he doesn't matter he isn't involved...thanks though

Wow...that is quite a situation! When did you change your mind? Like just recently??? I guess I would hit up consignment stores and garage sales. Craigslist is a good source too.

I hope you changed your mind for the right reasons...and not for someone else pressuring you. (Same thing about giving a baby up...never give them up just because someone else is pressuring you!) It is quite an undertaking and will only continue to be an expense so I hope you have a good support system that is stable.

Sorry..that is my psychology degree talking. I feel better now. :) Good luck with everything! I wish you and the baby the best!

my husbands cousin was giving her baby up for adoption and changed her mind 2 days after giving birth, so she litterly had nothing. and seeing her 2 weeks later it was as if she had planned on keeping him all along.
Is there a family planning or resource center near you? If you called then they might be able to get you help getting prepared.

Are there any baby/child consignment shops near you? We stocked up on alot of items at stores like Once Upon a Child and other local places. Also craigslist, we got a bassinet, bouncy seat and a few other things from that site. It is possible to get prepared quickly and with little money. Good luck.
