Is my baby name too popular?

Hi.  I'm 22 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins.  We're already set on naming our son after daddy, but I need help on our daughter's name.  I absolutely love the name Ava Kathleen.  Kathleen is my full name, though I go by Katie.  I just want to find out how popular Ava is in your different areas.  It's not popular here, as far as I know.  I only know of two Ava's and both are 7 or 6 years old already.  Your feedback is appreciated!!! =)

Hi. Yes, I looked at the social security website & was happy to see that when you search by state, Ava was #10 in Ca & that's in '08. I'd like to see the ssn stats for '09 :) I have alternatives, such as Olivia & Jaclyn or Jacqueline, but I keep coming back to Ava :) The babies are still cookin while I'm on bedrest, so we have a bit longer to make our final decision :) Thanks for your comments!

Ava is beautiful, although it is incredibly popular. It was the 5th most popular name in the country in 2008, according to the Social Security Administration.

But go with what you love!

We had Olivia on our list too. But I started to start it more and more after that.....Its a pretty popular name out there, But Ava is not...DEF go with what you like!! If we were going to have a girl, which we are not and never will ((this is our last)) We would have named her Mia....Love that name, alittle sad we will never get to use it :(

Really? I don't know any Olivias. Well, when I was in the hospital, I asked the nurse what the most popular baby girl names have been. Figured she was the best person to ask :) She said Isabella & Sophie. I asked about Ava & Olivia & she said no, not this year. I'm sure the popularity is different in our different areas, but I was happy to hear that babies born in my city this year haven't been overrun with Avas or Olivias. So, we'll go with what we like :) Yay!

Ohhhh, I LOVE BOTH names!! Now that is going to be a hard one to pick from! What happened to Ava being to popular?? I think Olivia is more popular then Ava is.

Okay! So, dh & I have decided. Our baby girl will either be Ava Kathleen or Olivia Kathleen (or Olivia Kate). My full name is Kathleen. What do you think? I'm so excited to have narrowed it down & that both dh and I love them both :)

I know, I was surprised too, but once I mentioned it, a lot of people told me, yeah, it is very popular... haha! It's ok. I originally thought of Jaclyn Elizabeth. Jaclyn after dh's grandma & Elizabeth after my mom. I'm really leaning towards that now.  I think it fits :)

Well, as much as I love the name Ava, we may scrap the idea ;( dh looked it up last night & it's been in the top four names for at least the past four years! I didn't even realize that. We don't want our daughter to be one of so many Avas in school, so we're on the search again! ;)

Good Question! I'll have to let you know!! haha Well, she has a daug. and step daug. Both girls names start with an A (( Angelina & Aaliyah)) And they would like to stay with an A if they could and they dont want an avg. name. The father's middle name is Antonio, so I think they will most likly go with that but nothing is forsure yet...They would call him Tony Or Anthony, FYI: my 1st name is Toni so its kind like they are naming him after ME!! LOL

I love the name Ava I would have named my baby that but it reminds me of a student i had and i dont want that so i am going to name my baby Isabella Rose!

It's not poplar where I live....my sister is pregnant and she was going to have Ava be her girl name if she had another girl, but its a boy....Very cute name!

Thanks :) dh & I are pretty set, but we won't tell family & friends for a while, because like yours, they'll give their 2 cents :) haha! I'll wait ti it's too late. I do know a couple Aidens, but you're right. If there aren't any close to you & around the same age, you're fine :) I love Ayla! That's very pretty. Do you pronounce it w/a long A? We do have a 7-year-old Ava in the family, but it's dh's cousin's daughter who we've only met once. They don't live near us. Well, thanks again :)

im naming my son Aiden and daughter Ayla but everyone keeps saying how Aiden is to popular but no one in my family has it yet so we are good lol i love Ava
