down syndrome

I'm 16 weeks and was recently tested. I had a amniocentesis and it was positive. Since then I've been very confused and sad idk what to do or think about this. Has anyone else been told they were at risk or had a positive test?

I am also high risk.
I refused the amnio as i didnt want to harm the baby as there are risks having it done.
We have a 1 in 137 chance of having a baby with downs and all i said to the dr was it doesnt matter if bub has it or not.
We will love this baby anyway but i was upset over it as the dr suggested terminating my baby.

I had a positive screening with the "Harmony Test" for an extra sex chromosome. I went a head with the amnio and that one was negative for the extra chromosome. My doctor says he's never seen this. Both tests are over 99% accurate. I choosing to believe the amnio so I'm not stressing the rest of this pregnancy. Once baby's here he will be tested for an accurate diagnosis. I understand the tears, I had many of them over the course of these tests.

I had the quad screen two weeks ago and it came back that we were high risk. We then went to get diagnostic testing and it cane back negative. My midwife said a lot of these tests result in false positives. I agree with you, I was so stressed out and worried! I would talk to your doctor and see what that means. I know its hard not to worry but just leave it in God's hands, it will work out! Good luck to you!

I haven't had that yet. My doctor is making me wait until I'm 19 weeks. Don't stress about it, you don't need to be up setting yourself. You never know, the baby may come out perfectly healthy. Keep positive thoughts.
